Everything You Need to Know About Henry Repairs & Servicing

1. Is it actually worth repairing an old Henry Hoover?

Absolutely. Unlike modern “throwaway” vacuum cleaners, Henrys are built with modular, high-quality parts. A brand-new Henry can cost upwards of £140. For our fixed price of £60 (including parts), we can often make a 10- or 15-year-old machine perform like it just came out of the box.

2. What does the £60 "Full Repair" actually include?

Our flat fee covers the vast majority of common faults, including labor and standard replacement parts (like carbon brushes, switches, or internal wiring). If your motor has completely burnt out and requires a specialized replacement, we will always discuss any additional costs with you before proceeding—no hidden surprises.

3. My Henry has lost suction. Can you fix it?

Yes. Loss of suction is usually caused by a combination of blocked internal airways, worn seals, or motor fatigue. We strip the machine down, clear the blockages, and ensure the airflow is brought back to optimal levels.

4. How long does a typical repair take?

We aim for a fast turnaround to minimize disruption to your cleaning routine. Most repairs are completed within 24 to 48 hours. If you are in a rush, ask about our £80 Exchange Units—you can swap your broken machine for a fully refurbished one instantly.

5. Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

Yes. All our Exchange Units come with a 3-month guarantee. For repairs, we stand by the quality of the components we fit and the precision of our labor, ensuring your machine is dependable for everyday use.

6. Why is my vacuum smelling of burning or making a loud noise?

A burning smell usually indicates a motor issue or a build-up of dust around the electrical components. A loud “screeching” often points to a bearing failure. We recommend turning the machine off immediately and bringing it in for a diagnosis to prevent further damage.

7. What is PAT Testing and do I need it?

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is a safety check for electrical items. If you are a business owner, a landlord, or a tradesman using your Henry on a construction site, you are often legally required to have your equipment tested for safety. We provide this service for just £20 per unit.
